Add a grid with feet & inches in addition to decimal feet.
The decimal feet grid uses 10 units per foot. It would be nice to have one that has 8 units per foot.
The call for feet and inches Grid has been heard! In early prototypes of our app but we took it out in order to focus on higher value tools like the Circle Edge and Measurement tools.
One user suggested that if we had our grid markers break down to 8 units per inch (or by extension 16 units per inch) that this could work very nicely. You can put the grid into "constrained zoom" mode now, which causes the zoom to increase or decrease in logical steps relative to the grid unit size.
Would adapting the grid in that way--displaying the unit labels in decimal feet, but dividing the grid area into 8 or 16 units--help you?
This is certainly huge for me. Without it, I can't really use the app effectively.
I would want to see units down to 1/16, but it would be nice to set a minimum unit so if I can drawing a floor plan, I might know that the most refinement I will need is 1", but if I doing a detail, I would typically go to 1/8. In each case I could set the minimum to keep it clear.
I see this dates back to 2014, can we assume it will not be implemented given the time lapse?
1/8 inch and 1/4 inch would be awesome!
Hi George, thanks for the feedback! We have been working on a grid that measures using feet and inches instead of decimal feet. We're still working on getting the grid line markers to work properly.
Are you looking for measurements like 1/16th inch, 1/8th inch, 1/4 inch, etc? At larger scales, how important are yards?
Maybe you could give us an example or two of the kinds of drawings you are making so that we can make sure we get all of the units to be logical as we zoom up and down the scale?
